So this week on Grey’s Anatomy brought parents! We met Izzie’s mom and Meredith and Lexie’s dad was back. We also got to see some “father/daughter” relationship between Meredith and the Chief. First off, Izzie’s mom was great. Completely a trailer, simple mom. But she cared so much for Izzie and loves her so much. Izzie’s mom came to the hospital on a call from Bailey. She was informed by Izzie that she had skin cancer. Mom was so realized because someone at her trailer park had had skin cancer and it was no big deal. Simple procedure. Izzie led her to believe it was no big deal until she really told her what was wrong. And Mom’s reaction to the news was very heartfelt. She cares so much and doesn’t want anything to happen to her baby girl. Izzie later in the episode goes on from some tests to see if the chemo is working. Before she even knows the results, she lies to her mother saying the cancer is gone. Mom is so happy and says she loves her. Mom is very simple and says she always knew Izzie was too good for the trailer park. So overall, Mom was a great character because it really showed a lot about Izzie.
Next, enter Thatcher, the Grey sisters dad. He comes to the episode, first to the chief, and says he is now clean and attending AA meetings. It is part of the program to apologize for his addiction. So the chief calls Meredith and Lexie in so their father can talk to them. Meredith doesn’t show any emotion. He was never part of her life, and she could care less about him now. Lexie, on the other hand, forgives him.
The relationship I personally liked most was the chief and Meredith. The chief had an affair was Meredith’s mother many years ago and Meredith has alway held a grudge against him because he left her mother and her mother then became cold and hard for the rest of her life. She blames the chief for this. The chief has always picked on Meredith, always pushing her, yelling at her, but, she finally realizes, acting like a father. The episode ends with them realizing this.
Next week is the big wedding. So be sure to watch to see who ends up getting married!
